A Little Change of Luck

This whole week I pestered the Alhambra School District on the status of my request for Mark Keppel High School. Anna, the personnel in charge of contacting the school for all facility requests probably got annoyed of me calling so many times. She was however always pleasant and welcoming in providing me with whatever status was available. Anna is a life saver! Oh, I guess I did give away the answer on whether we got the permit for Mark Keppel High School or not.

All Sunday Cantwell High School games will now be played at Mark Keppel High School, same time...different location. I am still in the works for Saturdays location (sorry, way too busy with tournament and I still have a week's cushion).

As for the tournament, the Men's A+ Upper Saturday games will now switch to Mark Keppel High School from 1:00 PM to 9:00 PM. Let's hope there are no further unexpected events! (*knock on wood*)

FYI: I might have to skip this week's photos due to the tournament.

Cantwell High School Update II

If you guys haven't noticed yet for this Sunday's schedules for all games at Cantwell High School...its TBA. It's unfortunate that Cantwell gymnasium repair will not be completed until December (and that's just an estimated date). We are hoping we can get the permit to Mark Keppel High School for the remaining games played at Cantwell. I hope to find out within the next few days, otherwise we will have no choice but to postpone this Sunday's games (again). It's been a very frustrating season for us, and we do appreciate your patience and understanding as we try our best to resolve all these issues. Expect an email by the end of the week on our final decision on where the game location will be for all of Cantwell's games.

Cantwell High School Update

I received an update from Cantwell High School today and was informed that the gym repair will take at least 2 weeks. As a result, all tournament games on Saturday, November 1st will be played at Glendale Community College. As for the Sunday, November 2nd league games, we are still trying our best to find a different location. We're hoping not to have another bye week. At this point we are keeping all time frames the same and location TBA until we have a confirmed answer from another gymnasium. Please visit back as we will keep you posted. We apologize for any inconveniences this may have caused and really do appreciate your understanding and cooperation.

Keppel Practice Photos

Keppel Practice

Last night I decided to drop by Mark Keppel High School and check out the practice...okay, more like I wanted to photograph some of the players and have a quick chat with Coach Hung Duong and Coach Danny Woo. Thanks to both coaches, I will be fortunate enough to capture some of their upcoming high school games (my official stepping stone to sports photography). I'll also be assisting them with this year's team brochure/booklet. Oh yeah...by the way, I am a Keppel alumnus (that helps). I plan on doing the same with a few other high schools (coaches I know personally). Ultimately, besides the photography...it would also be a good way to highlight and promote the high schools and players. My goal is to take these pictures to the local newspapers, and hopefully some of my photos will be good enough for them to consider. Wish me luck.

Photos will be posted on the next blog.

The roof, the roof is on fire

As soon as everything seemed to be calmed and settled...life throws us a curve ball (fire ball to be exact). Just two days ago we were able to complete the Halloween Tournament schedules and it finally seemed like a smooth sailing from that point on. Then the unexpected happened. Cantwell High School gymnasium roof caught on fire. From what I heard it was maybe the size of the free throw key, but it was still bad news for us. The tournament is already next weekend and this is the last thing we wanted to hear. Also imagine all the league games that will be postponed (after 3 weeks of byes too).

So for precaution we have already begun searching for a replacement gym. Let's wish for the best and hope the roof will be repaired by next Saturday. From a good note I heard the repair work has already started. We're crossing our fingers.

First Official Team Photo

We have our first official team photo! Thanks O.G. Clutch. I was afraid it wouldn't turn out too good since Alhambra High School gymnasium has really bad lighting (for action shots at least). I didn't have too much luck with the game photos so I'll post whichever good ones I was able to capture tomorrow. I was able to stick around and photographed two games today.

10.12.08 Game Photo Sneak Preview

It's 1:07 AM and I just finished eating my very late, late dinner (a bowl of pho). Fortunately, I have no work this morning (this morning referring to Monday, thanks to Mr. Columbus) and decided to work on a few of the game photos for all the anxious viewers (if there are any). Enjoy as I will post the rest later today...
